Mixed Media     Mandala Series Drapery Series
Reliquary Series Bronze Series     Functional Ware

Mixed Media: My exploration into mixed media began as a way to defy gravity and the vitreous nature of clay. I love intricate, gragile things and it has been tumultrous translating this on a physical level. I had to look to other materials to create my vision. My main concerns were about contrast. While I am still fascinated by dichotomy, it now plays a lesser role in my work. The addition of mixed media started as a search for durability, but now it has become a major component of my work. It allows the pieces to take on a deeper significance that transcends form and suggests multiple levels of content.

Mandala Series
: Symbol of the universe. These are my representations of the power and energy beyond our control and understanding which comprising the realm of our existence and the environment.

Drapery Series
: This series is inspired by the cloaked marble figures in some of the Frenchcathedrals around the Paris area. On the one hand they have a haunting beauty, on the other, the drapery serves to camouflage the true form. These pieces present a shell for a form beyond what they cover.

Reliquary Series
: These are homage pieces which serve to honor the ravaged and neglected.

Bronze Series
: I had an opportunity to study the lost wax technique of bronze casting with a local sculptor with the idea that metal would mimic the textures forms of the clay but have more durability. I developed a small series of mixed media sculptures that incorporated the bronze peices.

Functional Ware
: These lines of pottery are what I market in order to increase cash flow to support the other clay series. The Meteor Ware is  inspired by my interest in space; the final frontier. The Canyon Pottery is inspired by the irregularities of the horizon as veiwed at the Grand Canyon or smilar natural land formations.
