Student Date: 13 January 1997 Re: Memorandum Format for CJ 340/CJ410 Assignments This page demonstrates the standard format of a memorandum used in a wide variety of business and professional contexts. It indicates who the memo is being directed to, who it is from, and the date it is being submitted. The line following Re: is a descriptive title for the contents of the memorandum; thus it is unnecessary to read the entire memo to determine what it is about. Needless to say, memos should be typewritten, with standard margins--1 to 1 « inches at the top, 1 to 1 « inches on the left and 1 inch on the right and at the bottom. Also a standard typeface should be used: either Times Roman 12 point or Courier 10 point. Paragraphs should be blocked as shown in this memo, with a single line space separating each paragraph. Don't forget to use the spell check function, and proofread the final copy before submission.
